ISLAMABAD – The Sindh High Court has granted stay to Urdu 1 Television on two show-cause notices issued by electronic media regulator PEMRA for showing Indian dramas.

However, the single bench comprising Justice Arshad Hussain Khan directed the channel’s managers to submit their reply to the show-cause notices to PEMRA.

A media release said the judge ordered the proceedings should continue as per law but no final order be passed on the show-cause notices by PEMRA.

The next date of hearing was set for July 14.

PEMRA banned airing of Indian content on private TV channels on October 19, 2016.
